ONE THING on Roadmaps for Sales and Marketing

We often think about roadmaps in terms of development plans, but sales and marketing teams should be part of your development efforts, too.

When we launched a product for salespeople at NetProspex (now part of D&B), I sat down with the VP of sales when we were still in the design phase. He asked his people to test early versions. He assigned a specialist to sell early access to help craft the sales strategy and to help gather feedback. We made changes to design, feature set, and pricing based on that early feedback. It was that cross-functional team effort that made the eventual launch successful.
