ONE THING on A Roadmap is not a Contract

How can a Product person justify changing a roadmap midstream? Won’t customers, partners, salespeople, the board, etc. expect you to deliver on the roadmap commitments?

Actually, no. A roadmap is not a legal contract. Stakeholders and customers should understand and expect you to respond to changes in the market. As long as they see that your essential vision is one they share, considered changes in the roadmap are not just OK, they are necessary for success.

I have a friend (you know who you are) who tells a story of a roadmap that lived 9 hours. Have you changed a roadmap midstream? Tell me a story.

If you’d like to work on a team that’s hiring a UX Researcher ahead of development, ping me about my friend Tim Bouhour's role at Adthena in London.
