ONE THING on the Crisis of Adequate

I recently canceled my ChatGPT Pro subscription. It was not a financial decision. It was gut level, even moral.

I am distrustful of the deal OpenAI quickly made with the US Government after Anthropic turned them down. But more importantly, I am distrustful of how easy it is to settle for "adequate."

ChatGPT is adequate for many things. It is no longer the best at anything.

Most of us are drowning in defaults. We use the default tools. We follow the default process. We accept the default coffee because we are used to it and we are busy.

The best leaders do not settle for "good enough." They raise the bar. They understand that you need to be the best at something to earn loyalty.

AI is challenging us all to apply judgement and taste. We must stop settling for the glib fast answer and demand a better one. We must set up the conditions to get the result we are looking for.

Where are you settling for "adequate?" Reclaiming your agency starts with saying no to "good enough."
