You have a mountain of tasks to get done as a Product person (or in life). Where to begin? Here's my formula:
(Value ÷ Effort) x Confidence = Priority
We want to prioritize work that delivers big value while taking a small amount of effort, assuming we’re confident in both our estimates. I've used this for roadmaps. I’ve also used it to buy a slightly used Porsche. It's also useful when deciding what to cook for dinner and which TV epic to binge next.
My friend Jared Spool ran a whole blog on my formula here. Got other prioritization schemes? Let me know.
